"Best Dog Groomer in Charleston!"

Took my pup to Island dog wash last week and this is hands down the best. Customer service was excellent, clean facility, and the spa treatment for AC Slater was A+. I usually Drop off my pup and come back but Island Dog wash is a place I like hanging out at because of the friendly staff and can get some shopping done for the pup all while waiting. It's like a Disney land for pet and owner. High quality food, snacks, and toys. Thank you again Chad!

FINALLY! I've waited 12 years since retiring to Charleston to find a DIY pet wash business that was clean, professionally set up and, most importantly, SAFE for my dog. I have arthritis and a sore back. So bathing Titan, my German Shepherd, at home, using a low lawn chair or just kneeling over him in my shower, is both awkward and bothersome. Island Dog's wash tubs are just the right people-height and are comfortable to use. I can now bathe Titan while standing up. I've looked at two other DIY dog wash places over the years, here in Charleston, and did not think their tubs were safe for my 81 Lb. Shepherd. Those tubs were porcelain without any non-skid mats and had an unsafe ladder. PET SAFETY: =========== Island Dog has brand new stainless steel tubs which have a non-skid mat. The tubs have non skid pet ramps whose wheels lock in place to avoid rolling while in use. After the dog is in the tub, the ramp rolls under the tub and out of your way. The side of the tub has a sliding section that opens to provide for my Shepherd's easy entrance and exit to/from the ramp. The tubs also have an adjustable dog neck harness which attaches to the tub's wall. There is enough harness length for my dog to turn around, when needed yet keep him safely tethered to the tub's wall. CONVENIENCE: ============= They supply a variety of shampoos, conditioner, towels and grooming tools for you to use at no extra charge. I prefer to use my own pet cleaning products, and the owners are cool with that. The shelf which holds the bathing and grooming products was placed above the pet so as to not interfere with my dog washing, yet was easily accessible to me. Oh, and they do provide you with a water-proof apron to protect you when your dog decides to do an unannounced Shimmy-Shake. There is also a blow dry hose at each wash station for those who may want to use it. The owners also have thoughtfully placed a small trash receptacle in your wash area if you need. The wash area is very well lit, too. OTHER NOTEWORTHY POINTS: ======================== The shower head water pressure is adjustable by squeezing the nozzle's trigger and is on a coiled, reasonably light-weight hose. Island Dog does have a retail area for your pet's needs: food, treats, leashes, etc.. The entire store is very clean, neat, uncluttered, well lit and very professionally set up. I was impressed. The husband and wife team have pretty much nailed it when it comes to setting up, running and managing this biz. I found them to be extremely accommodating and very personable. OTHER SERVICES: =============== Island Dog does offer several other significant services for those who may want them while there. I accidentally discovered Island Dog the other day when I was at the post office and noticed the new pet wash business 2 doors down. I went there for my first use on Tuesday, May 27, 2019. WHO AM I? ========= I am a retired Information Technology guy with a varied background in systems analysis, methods-procedures analysis and business communications. So I tend to notice when things are properly or improperly done. In this case, I was so impressed that I decided to selfishly write this, because I want them to be around for a long time. My arthritis and sore back thank you.
